Update to my Portfolio

With thanks to the support team at Cargo Collective, I've managed to amended my online portfolio to include more design and motion graphics...

Some More Unfinished Abstract Business...

I'm looking forward to adding imagery in my new collection but for the meantime I'm concentrating on current work and searching for the right balance of colour, mark-making and design.

Abstract Collage Studies

I'm not too sure if abstract collage studies is the best way to describe this collection. What I am certain of though is that by combining mixed media such as acrylics, oil pastel, collage and pencil I've created what I feel is some compelling imagery that prepares me well for my next collection of paintings. I've found that oil pastels are superb for laying down quick strokes and areas of colour that can easily be scraped off the paper surface. In addition, pencil marks glide off the pastel surface effortlessly. Layering areas of found imagery next to areas of colour for me, accentuates the importance of the image because it isolates the picture where it has been removed from its original context.

Two Completed Abstract Acrylic Canvas Paintings

After a short hiatus from the studio for Christmas I'm back in and raring to go. I'm using paint with far less viscosity than I'm used to but it's creating fresh results with underlying colour becoming more visible with less effort. Form and balance are equally important in these two pieces as I look to introduce an element of design.

Portfolio Updated With New Works...

My latest collection of paintings and prints have now been added to my online portfolio. I've also tweaked the cover page to incorporate an image of my work as opposed to using a simple unrelated design. This kind of goes against my designer background way of thinking but having researched other artists sites that are visually effective it seems that using your own artwork as part of the design of the site makes perfect and simple sense. My next major task will be to incorporate this blog, my portfolio and my motion design showreel all in one. That in itself is a big undertaking as I know little of Adobe Dreamweaver so I've put that one on the backburner for 2011! Enjoy the collection!
