12 Paintings In 12 Days

Since completing my 12 canvases I decided it was important to acknowledge the benefits of this project to my own practice.

I have little time on a weekly basis, so it was necessary for me to complete these pieces quickly and without my normal regard for planning and layout. Consequently, I needed to seriously downscale from the size I'm accustomed to (usually around at least a metre in length) in addition to reducing my colour palette on each one, which really forced me to restrict the over use of competing colours. Combined with the use of collage, created using images from British culture (the Police have a particularly interesting influence on these pieces), I have found the result to be really pleasing and this challenge has given me a definitive route towards my next collection.

I'm also happy to announce that four of these canvases are being displayed at  the eminent Stepping Stone Studios.
